Pancake
  • Pet's Name: Pancake
  • Gender: Female
  • Age: 5
  • Diseases: Feline lower urinary tract disease (struvite urolithiasis), recurrent feline idiopathic cystitis (FIC)
  • Prescribed treatment: Strict veterinary diet to dissolve struvite and prevent recurrence (Hill's c/d, Royal Canin Urinary S/O). Only wet food, additionally diluted with water. Complete ban on fish, milk, and salty products (therapeutic food, antispasmodics and pain relief during flare-ups, bladder ultrasound every 4–6 months, calming medication to reduce stress)
  • General Information: Pancake was returned one month after adoption – she started urinating blood again. The previous owners had not followed the diet, saying, “A cat needs fish, not dry food.” Now she is on lifelong Urinary food, and every visit to the litter box is an indicator of her health. If she gets stressed, a flare-up follows immediately. She needs peace and a strict menu, and then she purrs like a tractor.
